Driveway sealing vs. replacement
When a paver driveway looks tired, replacement is not always next. Here is when cleaning, re-sanding and sealing is the better move.
When a paver driveway loses its color or starts to look blotchy, replacing it can feel like the obvious next step. In reality, many driveways are still sound enough to bring back with cleaning, re-sanding and sealing.
Replacement does not always solve the problem
If the pavers are not moving and the main issue is the look (faded color, dirty joints, an old coating or an uneven finish), cleaning, re-sanding and sealing can bring the driveway back with far less mess and cost than tearing it out.
Restoration fixes several problems at once
- A deep clean lifts dirt, mildew and stains off the surface
- Fresh joint sand brings back the clean lines of the pattern
- Stripping takes off old sealer that has failed or started to peel
- A new seal coat in the finish you pick improves how the whole front of the home looks
When replacement really makes sense
If the base under the pavers is failing, large areas have sunk or shifted badly, or the damage goes deeper than the surface, replacing the driveway may be the better call. The on-site estimate is where we look at that and tell you straight.
Ask a better first question
Instead of asking "Should I replace this?", ask "What is actually making my driveway look worn out?"
That question usually leads to the right scope and a more practical budget. If you want a second set of eyes on it, book a free on-site estimate.
